BILL is the owner and CEO of GlobalSource. Before co-founding the company in 2003, he was director of investigations for Europe, Middle East and Africa for a leading multinational security services company. He was previously director of operations of Investigative Group International (IGI), a prominent private investigation firm based in Washington, D.C. Bill spent a dozen years as an investigative reporter and writer in the Middle East, and his work has appeared in The New York Times and The Times of London, as well as publications by Harvard University Press and Syracuse University Press. Bill has a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Virginia and a Master's Degree from the School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University.
THOMAS is the senior director of GlobalSource, responsible for oversight of global operations, and for Internet and media. A former RAF aircrew and intelligence officer, he later became a respected international journalist, with over 20 years' Middle East experience with Reuters and other foreign and regional media in Cyprus, the Gulf (Bahrain, Kuwait and Dubai), Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Israel. Thomas covered some of the most violent conflicts in the Middle East, including the Lebanese civil war, the Cyprus conflict, the maritime Tanker War between Iran and Iraq in the 1980s, the first Gulf War, and the Palestinian uprising of 2000. For several years he was a contributor to The Annual Register of World Events, Debrett's World of Travel, and the Encyclopedia Britannica Yearbook. and had personal columns in several national newspapers. The book Violence and Terrorism 99/00 (McGraw-Hill) featured his analysis of Hezbollah's leadership. He was a columnist with the International Herald Tribune and wrote for The Guardian and openDemocracy foreign affairs magazine and broadcast for Irish radio RTE.
INTERNATIONAL Manager Jen operates jointly out of Washington and Nicosia, and is currently based in Belgrade, Serbia. She is responsible for coordination between regional offices, for managing global clients and subcontractors, and for quality control of the company's work product. She joined GlobalSource after completing her M.A. in International Politics from American University's School of International Service. Her studies focused on international security and Russia and Eastern Europe, which included completing extensive research on the Balkans and a detailed examination of Albania's bid to join the European Union. Jen also has degrees in political science and international studies from the University of Oregon, where she specialized in Russian and Eastern European Studies. She also studied in the Czech Republic. Jen speaks Russian and French and some Albanian and Czech - she previously worked in the political section of the U.S. Embassy in Tirana, Albania.
KATERYNA is North America Manager, responsible for GlobalSource's head office in Fairfax, VA, and for client management, hiring, and business development in North and South America. Since joining in 2009 she has managed a wide range of business and insurance cases, supervising our network of investigators around the world. She has overseen due-diligence investigations on behalf of US corporations and financial institutions to ensure compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), and insurance fraud investigations in the Middle East. A fluent Russian and Ukrainian speaker, she has handled investigations in Russia under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO). Kateryna was previously an international legal consultant to several non-government organizations (NGOs) in Ukraine and South America. She has a Bachelor's degree from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, Ukraine, and a Masters from Levin College of Law, University of Florida..
AKIS is Mediterranean Region Manager and heads the company's European headquarters in Nicosia, Cyprus. He is responsible for oversight of GlobalSource operations in Cyprus, Greece, Malta and the Mediterranean region. A native of Cyprus, Akis lived in San Francisco, California, for more than twenty years, working for financial services companies, in financial analysis and the setting of credit control guidelines and procedures. He was a founding member of the Hellenic American Business Association in California. Akis returned to Cyprus in 1999 and worked as an independent business development and investment consultant for large-scale tourism and other property developments in Cyprus and Eastern Mediterranean countries. He has a Business Administration degree from San Francisco State University's School of Business.
