Moving time in Nicosia

GLOBALSOURCE has relocated to impressive new executive offices on the first floor of the Paraskevaides Foundation Building in Nicosia city center (pic). Cyprus, a European Union state, is our second most important location outside Washington and the long personal associations many of our senior staff have with the island has paid dividends over the years in developing our regional presence in the Mediterranean area and in Africa, Russia and Eastern Europe. The new office is headed by regional manager Akis Phanartzis.

Russia & East Europe Manager

JEN Kosydar is appointed Russia & East Europe Manager, responsible for business development in Russia, the former Soviet republics, Eastern Europe and the Balkans. Jen has been working as a case manager since she joined GlobalSource after completing her M.A. in international politics from American University's School of International Service. She also studied in the Czech Republic. Jen previously worked in the political section of the U.S. Embassy in Tirana, Albania and speaks Russian and French with some Albanian and Czech.

Intelligence online

THE respected French-based corporate intelligence publication, Intelligence Online, independently named GlobalSource as a key player in Cyprus, quote: "GlobalSource, the corporate intelligence and private security firm which does business in Cyprus and Cairo, is currently advising the Cypriot government on the privatisation of Cyprus Airways, the national airline company. GS negotiates airline sale

THE Cypriot newspaper Politis (pic) names GlobalSource as one of three firms seriously interested in finding buyers for the troubled national airline Cyprus Airways. “Only three negotiators are serious, one of them being GlobalSource LLC,” the Greek-language newspaper said in its report. This case highlights one of our important services in helping clients to identify potential investments in distressed markets like Cyprus and Greece where government divestment of assets presents opportunities for investors.

Eastern Claims Conference

GLOBALSOURCE staffs the annual Eastern Claims Conference (ECC), a top insurance industry event. At a meeting in New York's Waldorf=Astoria Hotel, company networking was carried out by Kateryna Harding from our D.C. head office. Managing Director Bill Hutman (pic) gave a panel presentation titled "Nothing Personal: STOLI-IOLI from the Investigation Perspective". (STOLI is stranger owned life insurance, IOLO is investor owned life insurance).

Athens office opened

GLOBALSOURCE opened a new regional office in Greece, in the Glyfada district (pic), south of Athens. The company has a long association with Greece and became heavily involved while investigating brand piracy and smuggling issues for a large European client. Among our Advisory Board members is Professor Yannis Valinakis, a former Greek deputy minister of foreign affairs. Among our other Greek speakers are senior advisor Constantinos Achillides and regional manager Akis Phanartzis, who takes overall responsibility for the new office.
