Thomas O’Dwyer (1943 – 2022)

With great pain and sorrow we must tell you that our dear friend and colleague Thomas O’Dwyer has passed away.

Thomas was a GlobalSource co-founder and director. His bio, as impressive as it was, was only part of his story — from a small village in Ireland; out of high school studying for the priesthood; recruited to be an elite Vulcan nuclear fighter pilot by the RAF (yes – an Irishman whose father was affiliated with the IRA but someone of such character and ability even the British Air Force couldn’t overlook). And where other’s bios would stop there – Thomas re-invented himself again as a writer (children’s books) and then journalist: working for Reuters, the Economist and others, largely covering wars that continually were springing up in the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East. And this all before the age of 50.

Such brilliance and experience would breed arrogance and privilege in many. But not in Thomas. He continued to explore himself and the world.

We feel lucky and blessed to have had Thomas by our side all these years.
